Controller
Location: South Orange County, CA (Onsite)
Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 Base Salary
About the Opportunity
A growing organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the U.S. accounting function and serve as a key business partner to executive leadership. This newly created position was established due to continued growth and offers the opportunity to build processes, enhance financial reporting, optimize tax strategies, and drive operational improvements across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a strategic mindset and can effectively translate complex financial information into actionable insights for leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead all U.S. accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Partner with leadership to provide financial guidance and support key business decisions.
- Manage partnership accounting activities and ensure compliance with applicable accounting requirements.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies.
- Develop and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
- Support financial system enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Mentor and support accounting team members while helping build scalable infrastructure for future growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with Controller-level responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
- Experience with partnership accounting structures and requirements.
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax laws, planning strategies, and tax-saving opportunities.
- Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proven ability to lead accounting functions within a growing organization.
- Advanced Excel and accounting systems experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex accounting concepts for executive leadership.
Preferred Experience
- Cross-border accounting exposure involving U.S. and Canadian operations.
- Experience improving processes and implementing accounting or ERP systems.
- Background supporting multi-entity organizations.
